FAQ’s

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Do I Need a Visa to Visit Brazil?

A: Canadian citizens using a Canadian passport DO NOT need a Visa to visit Brazil.

Q: What weather should we expect during this Tour?

A: While we can never predict the weather forecast accurately four our Tours, please be informed that the average temperature in Recife, Brazil, during March is around 27°C.  Which means sun protection is not just recommended but essential.  Please keep in mind the sun in Brazil is very different from what we can have in North America. Locals are used to being exposed to the sunrays there but most likely your skin will not be prepared enough therefore we Highly Recommend each participant to bring appropriate sun protection (Sunscreen, Hats, sunglasses…).

Q: What type of clothing should I bring along for this trip ?

A: As the December 2024 Tour to Brazil includes regular outdoor activities such as walks, boat rides, visits in local farms,…we strongly recommend each participant to bring a good pair of walking (or running) shoes, a light jacket, beach clothing but also more comfortable clothing for the daily activities.

However, as shown on the schedule, a few dinners will take place in local restaurants therefore participants are free to bring a bit less casual clothing according to their wish.

While we can never be sure about the weather forecast, please keep in mind that the average temperatures for Recife, Brazil in March is around 27°C.

Q: Will I have an easy access to Internet while on the Tour? Inside the Pousada?

A: The pousada has Wifi available.  Just ask our staff member for the login info.

Moreover, Internet cafes (Lan houses) are increasingly common in Brazil, and even small towns often have at least one spot with more or less decent connections.

An increasing number of hotels, airports and shopping malls also offer hotspots for Wi-Fi with your laptop computer.

In the centre of Porto de Galinhas, you will also have free Wifi access.

Q: How much $ should I bring along for this trip?

A: This question comes back almost each year and as you may imagine, it is a tricky one as there is no proper answer to it.  Indeed when it comes to budget it clearly depends on everyone means and needs as we more or less all have different definition for “quality vacations”.  Nevertheless, over the years we have been able to give participants a better idea of potential costs on site so that they can establish their own budget.

Although Breakfast included, not lunch or dinner. (Pending to Update estimate of how much lunch/dinner will cost participants) pPlease keep in mind that you will have to provide for your dinners (-3 dinners included in the original package as explained on the Schedule).  In Brazil you can find dinner places from 7$ to 30$ and up /person (depending on wine…).  While it clearly depends on each person taste, mood,…We advise a total of approximately 150$ -175$ /person for the dinner budget during the length of this Tour.

In addition to this, we also would like to remind the participants that alcohol is NOT provided during this trip which means that they will have to pay for their cocktails, their lunch or dinner drinks and so on… Brazil is famous for its party scene and therefore you may feel like enjoying your experience to the fullest by trying new cocktails, local drinks…(which none would blame you for) now thisis therefore something you may want to discuss when trying to make an estimation for you “pocket money” in Brazil.

Finally, street art, clothing, local souvenirs…are very common and – we are not going to lie about this – but often quite enticing.  Colourful, vibrant, different, there are a lot of things you could potentially fall for while touring in Brazil, therefore we recommend you to add these (give away or self) presents to you envelop which in this case could go from 100$ up to 500$ depending on how generous you feel during that time ;).

Again, we are well aware that this answer remains quite vague; nevertheless we hope it gives you a better idea of some things you may want to keep in mind when thinking about your “pocket money”.

Q: Is Recife and its surroundings a safe place to travel to in Brazil?

A: We are well aware that Brazil does not have the reputation to be amongst the worldwide safest countries.  Nevertheless, we would like to point out to you that North Brazil (Recife and its surrounding areas especially) – where the Tour will take place – are known to be amongst the safest spots in Brazil.  Thousands of tourists, travelers and of course locals, experience the beauty of this area each year and over the years have contributed to provide a positive and realistic image of what to expect when visiting this part of the country.

In addition to this, we think you might want to go on our “Testimonials” section on this website and we invite you to read the comments and look at the videos where students from our Vancouver Capoeira Studio share their impressions about Brazil and our Tour as a whole. (insert link to testimonials and reviews here).

Q: What is the time difference between Recife and Canada?

A: Local time in Recife is 4 hours ahead of Vancouver (BC), 1 hour ahead of Toronto (ON), 3 hours ahead of Calgary (AB), 3 hours ahead of Saskatoon (SK), 1 hour ahead of Montreal (QC), same time as Halifax (NS)…
