There is no direct English translation for the Brazilian word “Pousada”. It is equivalent to a boutique hotel, usually bigger than a bed and breakfast, except that the owners (or anyone else) do NOT live on site.
Brazil is famous for the diversity of its accommodations; from luxury hotels, to more charming and authentic places, the country has a lot to offer to suit every taste and budget.
Amongst the different types of accommodation you can find in Brazil Pousadas remain very popular. They have been spreading for many years and nowadays more and more travellers from around the world tend to choose this affordable – yet comfortable – option to sojourn during the length of their stay in the country.
In 2006, my husband and I decided to open our own pousada, known today as Pousada Violeta. Ever since we embarked on this exciting – yet at the time somewhat slightly intimidating – new adventure of opening our own local ‘boutique hotel,’ we have been overwhelmed by the positive feelings of welcoming people in our “universe”. We literally both fell in love with beautiful Porto de Galinhas during one of our trips with Canadian capoeira students. So when the idea of opening a Pousada started to grow bigger and bigger in our mind, it suddenly became obvious to us that we knew the town where we would like to make this happen.
Today we are happy to host all our tour participants at Pousada Violeta, hoping they will share the same enthusiasm and positive vibe we first had when we randomly discovered the place. We are looking forward to your visit so you can experience this local gem with us.
